JazzFriends [April 2018].- With a long list of achievements and accolades, the vocalist, percussionist and entertainer VINX has performed and recorded with the likes of Sting, Taj Mahal, Herbie Hancock, Sheryl Crow, Darius Rucker, Ricki Lee Jones, Stevie Wonder… and the list goes on. His vocal virtuosity along with the masterful use of electronic effects captivate audiences from the beginning to the end, and his rhythmic control supported by his djembe makes him an artist who does not need anyone to create wonderful music.
On this occasion, the fabulous North American vocalist and percussionist is accompanied by extraordinary Spanish guitarist Ximo Tebar, who also has a dazzling touring and recordings career with great jazz masters such as; Benny Golson, Johnny Griffin, Lou Donaldson, Joey DeFrancesco, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Lou Bennett, Idris Muhammad … besides being a musician who has received many jazz awards and also has a large discography.
The night began with the classic standard, “Summertime”. The articulation and vocal control, along with the rhythmic game with the guitar were extraordinary. I was especially surprised by the variety of creativity of these two great artists, who not only have spent their career immersed in the language of music, but also help to others to achieve artistic freedom in themselves.
